[series]: Air Gear

[character]: Agito Wanijima

[background & history]: The body Agito exists in is not his own. It belongs to his 'other half' Akito Wanijima. Akito himself loved skating on AT's, and was a talented rider who'd trained himself to 'fight' using a set of hooked straps attached to his legs, each approximately 10 feet long. Working for his brother on the special Air Trek forces team, Circle Wind, Akito hunted down criminals who would use AT's for the wrong purpose. Akito came to realize that his brother was only using him for violent means and refused to skate. Knowing that his brother wouldn't just allow him to stop, Akito created a violent alter-ego to stand 'in his place' when it came time to work. Thus, Agito was born. As Agito remained a powerful force for his brother, Akito ceased skating, slowly losing his skill. In order to display who was 'in control', Akito began wearing a medical eyepatch over his right eye when he was dominant. Moving it over the left eye showed Agito's dominance. Between the two, she often think seperately, as though two minds are in one body, and will switch between the two when the other wants to speak, or needs to act.

At the time he rode for Circle Wind, he had one friend, a memeber of a SWAT team with the same agenda (essentially, the same group, with different names) of stopping people who would abuse Air Treks for crime, Akira Udou. After a job stopping some Chinese smugglers from stealing some exclusive parts, Akira fell for the sister of one of the men they stopped. Over time, he grew distant from Agito and lost focus on the job they were supposed to be doing. With less missions finished properly due to Akira's distraction, Agito found himself battling against teams of AT users, Storm Riders. Though these conflicts Agito acquired a special pair of skates called the Fang Regalia, as well as plenty of reputation as a one-man team under the name Agito, though his brother and other men of Circle Wind posed as members for the sake of 'following the rules.' With these skates, he was crowned the 'Fang King' and was one of the 8 guardians of the Trophaeum Tower; the Bloody Road.

Akira's girlfriend had her eyes set on stealing the Fang regalia for the sake of keeping her brother out of trouble back home. Challenging Agito, she planned a one-on-one battle for possession of the regalia. Having gotten word of this challenge from Agito's badmouthing and a note left from his girlfriend, Akira took her place in the challenge and defeated Agito in a moment of distraction, realizing he'd lost a friend to a woman.

A year after this is when the series starts. He now wears a bright orange jacket, designed much like a straight jacket, which is frequently put to use by his brother, leaving Agito's arms almost always bound behind him. Agito continues to ride for his brother as a memeber of Circle Wind, who ruthlessly hunt anybody who rides Air Treks, making Agito a sort of walking contradition. Whenever he isn't working for his brother, he's forced into Akito's personality, and put inside a spherical cage where his brother physcially and verbally abuses him. After a team battle that the main character, Itsuki "Ikki" Minami, witnesses, Agito gives chase to Ikki's team after his victory against the other team. During the chase, Ikki appeals to Akito and Agito, calling him a frog trapped in a well. Leading him to make an incredible leap off a building in construction, Akito makes Agito realize that Ikki is the one who can free them from their brother, and bring back the love to skating he once had.

Though Agito sees himself as the best rider on team Kogarasumaru and the rest useless trash (aside from former Yaou leader, Buccha) Akito forces them to join the team. Agito often skips out on the team's training, working toward personal goals of retreiving his lost Fang regalia (though he still holds the title as King of the Bloody road). Setting his plan in motion by defeating dozens of other teams, spreading Kogarasumaru's territory; he gets the attention of Behemoth, the team his former friend Akira started after leaving his side. Though two ranks apart, Ikki bull-headedly accepts the challenge of Behemoth and Akira, just as Agito assumed he would. After a dynamic battle, called Cage, the team is left with a 2 loss, 1 win record as Agito and Ikki begin their one-on-one battles.

On his own, Agito is losing severely to Akira, the pent-up frustration and emotional strain of losing his friend putting a sort of lock on his skill. As Agito feels his defeat impending, he begs for Akito's help, wanting to leave Akito's mind with the skates in his hand. However, it's Ikki who comes to the rescue, and after an elaborate battle, Ikki and his opponent are left barely conscience as Agito stands before his defeat again. Agito manages to use a technique that would only be available to him with the use of the Fang regalia, and combined with Ikki's natural aptitude for skating and access to his own road abilities, Agito stands at the only conscience winner; much to the argument of the crowds. Akira reawakens and officially declares Agito and his team the winner. Shortly after Circle Wind arrives to capture the thousands of Riders who'd arrived to watch the battle. Though they eventually overpower the police, Akira turns himself over to them, ending the conflict and disbanding the 1000+ membership of Behemoth.

Due to injuries sustained in the fights, Agito is hospitalized. However, an anonymous party has brought him the Fang regalia as he's in the hospital. While having an emotional fit over the return of his skates, the support of his teammates, and the loss of his friend once again (this time to his brother), Agito is drugged by an impostor nurse, leaving him unable to help as his team is jumped by a mysterious group just before a class trip.

((Because I'm taking Agito from the current print of the English manga, and not the anime, this is where I'm stopping))

[character personality]: Agito is the 'dark half' of the personalities. Because of his love of carnage and blood thirst, he's often characterized as a shark. Agito curses often, adding swears as honorifics to people he meets and has little initial respect for. Agito has the most expansive knowledge of the world of Air Treks, and won't hesitate to condescend to his teammates for not knowing what he's known for a while. Though he grows to respect their skill, he still has little caring regard for them. Though he's a powerful and fast rider, his weakness lies in his frail body and sometimes unstable mental state. Using his regalia-related skills more than once over some time will cause him to pass out. Removing his eye patch has a different effect depending on the situation...

[character abilities]: Without his regalia, Agito is still a powerful and fast skater, standing out above most. He makes use of spinning techniques, as his still wears the orange straight-jacket forced upon him by his brother (though his arms aren't bound.). The four straps on his pants are tipped by extremely sharp meat hooks, which combined with his arsenal of techniques, tear through most opponents. If not used to cut, Agito uses them to constrict, bringing his enemy in closer and unable to defend themselves from his devastating kicks.

With his Fang regalia on, he opens up a whole new book of abilities, though many will leave him weakened and exhausted after a single use. The parts and design of the skates allow for the creation of a shock wave through the momentum acceleration and braking. The energy from this is transferred into force that cuts the air apart in a burst of energy. The Bloody Armor ( parts added to the skates during Akira use) assist with this conversion without the excessive strain on the thigh muscles. This wave of energy is called Fang, though in Agito's hands it's more powerful; calling the technique Leviathan. However, Agito can use this technique with Akito's assistance without the skates. Over time, Agito learns more advanced Fang-related moves. The Fang Cage is a weaker application of the Fang cut, used in succession in order to create a cage within a given area. Anyone caught inside is unable to leave until a powerful technique brakes any of the crossections, or Agito does so himself with a specifically powered fang. If timed properly, Agito, and any other skilled riders, can jump upon a Fang cut and ride along it. Though the technique is best used by Ikki and Agito together, Agito (with Akito's help) can ride the fang for a short distance, increasing it's destructive power.

Why did your character accept the invitation?: Having gotten his Fang Regalia back, he no longer NEEDS to use Ikki and Kogasumaru to get what he wanted back. Seeing the team as a chain on his ankle (despite their obvious improvement) he wants to go off and continue carving his road into new opponenets without having to deal with the Crow-boy.

Character's occupation: Fighter

Strengths: Unlike most fighters, Agito doesn't fight on foot. Unless he's home he's never seen without his skates on his feet, giving him a massive speed and agility advantage over most. Using the hooks and straps on his pants, he attacks from a decent distance (approximately 6 feet). He doesn't care about anyone other than himself and Akito, so there's never anyone to impress or worry about. Even if he were forced on a team, he'd still treat it as a solo act.

Weaknesses: Akito. He sees himself as a hindrance to Akito's life at times, and only keeps on in hopes that he can give Akito his body back. The Leviathan technique takes a significant toll on his muscles, leaving it to be used as the end all of his arsenal; as he's not likely to be able to keep up for much more than using it twice. His ego over 'being the damned Fang King' makes him pick fights and target people just to get them into an official match and beat them; even if they could be well beyond his skill level.

CANON SYNOPSIS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Air_Gear_characters#Kogarasumaru

Agito, and his other half, Akito, are a pair that share the majority of one mind and one body. Each half designates themselves by wearing an eye patch over one eye or the other; the violent Agito over the left eye, and the softer, gentler, Akito over the right. Even each eye appears rather different depending on the dominant personality. Their separation began due to Akito's older brother, Kaito. Kaito is the head of a special task squad that exclusively works toward getting the delinquent use of Air Treks off the streets. Akito was most-always ordered, by his brother, to attack and hunt down his "fellow" Storm Riders as part of the Anti-AT law. Using that very law, as his excuse to do exactly as he pleased, Kaito used Akito as a means of arresting other riders. Having registered Akito, and his squad, as a team in the Parts war, he would arrest the other teams either during or after the match, usually in a large-scale bust involving a large SWAT team. Due to Kaito's physical and mental abuse, as well as the constant order to bring a gradual end to the pastime he loved, Akito tried to shut himself away from Air Treks. Unfortunately, necessity forced him to keep riding for his brother, almost daily, and so Agito emerged. Agito promised to Akito that he would ride for him, and keep Akito safe from both his brother, and the world of riding.

Though there's no real 'dominant' side to him, Agito is present more often. Agito has become a top Air Trek rider who's claimed and reclaimed his position as one of the eight Kings of Trophaneum. Being the King of the Fang Road, Agito leaves a trail of carnage in his wake, his road primarily signified by the trails of blood left behind during his attacks. Easily, Agito paints himself as selfish, a loner, and an all around ass-hole. Until Akito later convinces him otherwise, Agito flies completely solo, feeling that friends and even the majority of the things in Air Trek that represent a 'team' are the most useless things he knows. Friendship, team emblems, teamwork, relying on others; whatever you want to call it, Agito calls it 'fucking shit' and quite openly. The only things he cares about are leaving carnage in his wake, and Akito. It actually takes quite a bit of convincing from Akito to make Agito think otherwise about people, and even then, he'd prefer to be on his own. Agito loves to fight, though he doesn't go about picking them recklessly. He's quite aware of his power and skill, and knowing it's far higher than that of most, he looks down on all of his opponents, as well as his "allies".

He doesn't maintain one constant reason for continuing in Akito's place on ATs. However, his primary reason, if asked, would be 'For Akito', which is an answer he'd never speak aloud. He doesn't feel it's anyone's business, and won't ever bring it up. However, he's somehow managed to make friends, and he sticks around them out of curiosity, as well as some slight persuasion from Akito. Having joined a team that's heading 'for the top' of ATs, it's the perfect excuse to continue proving how strong he is. Yet, the reality is, due to the way that he fights, and his caged upbringing, his body is awfully frail. Just one of his signature techniques causes an incredible strain on his legs. However, he hides his weakness and pain behind his 'you're a loser, I don't need you' attitude. And because Agito is never one to talk about himself, nobody questions this.

Akito, was originally, the Fang King, and the first personality. Though he'd ascended to such a great level of skill, taking orders for his brother's SWAT team took precedence over everything. Akito came to despise this so much that he shut himself off and created another personality. This dramatic shift in attitude caused Akito to become incredibly docile and is exponentially nicer than Agito in all ways. His demeanor often appears as stereotypically gay, though, there's only one guy he has any affection for. However his sexuality is always called into question as he's overly cheerful and cute. Akito has also dressed up like a girl on a couple of occasions, and considered himself pretty. Since creating Agito, Akito has lost all ability to skate. Though he can still walk in them, and is rarely seen without his AT on, anything beyond that results in obscenely cute flailing and falling over.

Being that Akito is far more sociable than Agito, he's far more willing to be helpful to his friends. Combined, they're almost a walking dictionary when it comes to Air Treks, as well as battle strategy. There is some conflict with Agito when it comes to sharing information, however. Akito has been known to force Agito's hand in order to get his two cents in. The same can be said for Agito's desire to speak, though Akito is more willing to make the switch. In very rare cases, typically dealing in those where Agito feels incredibly threatened or desperate, the eye patch can be removed. Usually, Agito maintains dominance in this state, but this is a highly focused state, where it seems both personalities are functioning as one. On the off chance that the eye patch is removed unwillingly, or accidentally, it creates a state of severe confusion between them, leaving them staring blankly into space for a while. While sleeping Agito totally vulnerable and helpless.

CALABRIA-VERSE BACKGROUND:

Akito grew up without his parents, and only his brother. Though his parents were around briefly, they were gone before Akito was two. Raised alone by his brother, things were relatively normal, until, his brother entered the police force. This was about the time Akito had begun skating as a past time. He took to it rather quickly, showing a great deal of talent. Unfortunately, so had many punks in Japan. Shortly after Akito's brother joined the local police force, there was a surge of crimes and vandalism, as well as general hazards to public safety; all being performed by people on these inline skates. But, with the market of skating on a great rise, science stepped in to make a new kind of faster, more 'extreme' skate. Two-wheeled inline skates were developed with miniaturized motors and pressure sensors inside them, making them easily as fast as a car on the highway, or faster for those who'd gotten into the hobby of tweaking with the technology. These new skates were dubbed Air Trek. Air Treks quickly replaced inline skating, and resulted in a faster rise of crime in Japan. With Akito getting into the scene, his brother, Kaito, did what any "good", "law-abiding" man would do; take advantage of his brother and use him to catch these criminals on wheels.

Japanese police took to the idea, and Akito's brother was even granted his own "Air Trek" team of police to better capture these criminals. While most of the team was used for surveillance, and setting up stings, Akito was the one sent after the criminals. While the squad was equipped with AT's that slid around their shoes, hiding in their pants, they paled in comparison to the pair Akito wore. With each consecutive arrest, the next assignments would deal with more aggressive thugs and greater crimes, and Agito would be given more aggressive orders.

Akito was a good boy, and did as his brother told him, simply turning a blind eye to the occasional whip, or warning shot from a rubber-tipped bullet. There wasn't any special meaning, or reason, to Kaito's abuse, and when asked he'd say it, "was just how he showed his love", while wearing a fake smile. As time went on, Akito was only allowed to skate when out on duty. Later, he was outfitted with a hooded straight jacket, then kept inside a spherical cage. When it finally sunk in, and Akito accepted the fact that Kaito only saw him as a tool against fellow skaters, he was torn between listening to his only family, or quit skating.

Un-diagnosed with what was essentially personality disassociation (or more simply, multiple personalities), Agito came to be. Taking Akito's place as the skating weapon, Akito sat back in his mind and quietly watched from within himself. To distinguish which personality was present, Agito began to wear an eye patch. Putting it over his left eye meant Agito was dominant, and over the right whenever it seemed like Akito should be present. Despite his unstable state of mind, Kaito never seemed to care, though he appeared far more pleased when letting Agito loose to capture criminals. After all, he never had to tell him how much to injure another, he only needed to point and say go. To further improve his means of causing harm, Agito began wearing straps tipped with sharp hooks on his pants, as he continued to wear the restrictive straight-jacket.

Taking the majority of the credit for all of Agito's violent efforts during catching criminals, Kaito became an infamous force to be reckoned with throughout greater Japan. Standing out above all others usually comes with the perks of more pay and, more leverage when acting illegally to catch the criminals. But, one payoff he didn't seem too pleased about, was the order to transfer to a city in Italy to handle it's current level of organized crime. It's Italy, their main exports are wine, pasta, and mafia! In actuallity, it was an excuse to get Kaito, Agito, and their increasingly violent tactics out of Japan. Perhaps half the world away, where Japan wouldn't see them, they could re-establish peace on the streets without nearly killing every kid who wore ATs

Having been officially transferred to a local, small, police force in Reggio Calabria, Agito was dragged along by his brother; cage and all.

CURRENT SITUATION: Agito's brother is currently employed by the local police, as Agito is too young to have a job of his own. Akito lives with his brother in their RV, though, he's still kept inside his cage when not out for a walk, or otherwise capturing thugs, violently. The RV is usually parked within a block of the police HQ, though never in the same place two nights in a row.

ALIGNMENT: His brother Unaffiliated
